What this does not change

Nothing on this site is recommended because it pays. Products are only ever named where the page had already established that you need one — if an article explains a technique that requires a specific tool, we may link to that category of tool. We do not add product links to reference pages, we do not write pages whose purpose is to sell something, and no manufacturer has paid for a mention or seen a page before it was published.

Where we link, we generally link to a product category rather than one specific item. That is partly honesty — we have not personally tested every model on the market — and partly practical, since a specific listing can go out of stock or be replaced, while a category search stays useful.

How to spot the links
